Cool Idea
I've been plotting this similar idea in my mind ever since I became a coach. To give back to those less fortunate. I was that kid. Not exactly, because my family situation was pretty dam stable, I must admit. Nothing was given to me. I earned it from my parents. Some kids just need that direction. Someone to show them how to "earn it".
I've got this coaching/training idea, and something else in the works, to do this. I live in a neighborhood that some might call "bad". I just see people with time that could be better used. Need a direction. Kids on bikes. Kids that are curious.
A bit off topic but relating to the neighborhood. I was looking at this building by Lincoln poultry. Notice a guy in the lot charging a battery and running a small tv. Look like he was getting power out of the building ( which, by the way, is for sale). Thought he might be a maintainence man. He was watching the buildings from his camper. He used to race bikes in the '70's. A Zeus with campy and sewups. Never would of thought from first impressions. Goes to show" don't judge a book by its cover". We chatted a long while about bike racing.
That's why i dig my neighborhood. It's got character that fits me.
